(-)-Hydroxycitric acid lactone is a potent inhibitor of ATP-citrate lyase. (-)-Hydroxycitric acid lactone catalyzes the extramitochondrial cleavage of citrate to oxaloacetate and acetyl-CoA, limits the availability of acetyl-CoA units required for fatty acid synthesis^[2].
