Butoconazole nitrate (RS 35887), an imidazole antifungal agent, is active against Candida spp. and effective against vaginal infections due to Candida albicans. Butoconazole nitrate is presumed to function as other imidazole derivatives via inhibition of steroid synthesis[2].
